Sprinter interior: full-size, walk-in
The Sprinter's high-roof body gives roughly 6 feet 4 inches of floor-to-ceiling height and about 70 inches of width, which produces a genuine aisle between three-across rows. Passenger models seat 12 or 15 with three-point belts everywhere, roof-ducted climate to the last row, LED lighting and a rear luggage bay on 12 passenger layouts. The driver's cabin uses MBUX with a touchscreen, voice control and wireless CarPlay and Android Auto. Executive conversions replace rows with reclining leather captain's chairs and tables.
Metris interior: midsize, garage-friendly
The Metris is the smaller Mercedes van, closer in size to a Honda Odyssey than to a Sprinter. Interior height is around 4 feet 6 inches, so passengers sit rather than stand, and the passenger version seats up to eight across two or three rows. Its advantage is footprint: it clears most residential garages and urban parking structures, which the high-roof Sprinter often cannot. For four to seven adults with modest luggage on short hops, the Metris is efficient. For anything larger, it runs out of room quickly.
Choosing between them
Count heads and bags. Up to seven passengers with light luggage: a Metris or an executive Sprinter, depending on how nice the ride needs to be. Eight to twelve passengers with airline bags: a 12 passenger Sprinter with the rear luggage bay. Thirteen to fifteen passengers: a 15 passenger Sprinter, and plan on soft bags or a second vehicle for luggage. Height-restricted parking pushes toward the Metris; long highway days and standing headroom push toward the Sprinter.
